Dr. Indrajeet Chaubey is a Professor of Ecohydrology with joint appointments in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering, Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences, and the Division of Environmental and Ecological Engineering. Since 2013 August, he also serves as the Department Head in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences. He received the Ph.D. degree in Biosystems Engineering from the Oklahoma State University in 1997. Before joining Purdue, he was a faculty at the University of Arakansas where he served as Assistant Professor from 2000 to 2005, and Associate Professor with tenure from 2005 to 2006.

His research interests are ecohydrology, solute and sediment transport at various spatial/temporal scales, development and assessment of best management practices to minimize nonpoint source pollution, spatial variability of natural processes that control hydrologic/water quality watershed response, effect of land use on sediment, nutrient and metal transport, interaction of terrestrial and aquatic processes affecting water quality and linking these processes to develop integrated watershed/water quality management technology, mathematical modeling of sediment, nutrients and metals at different spatial scales, and application of geographic information systems and remote sensing in developing decision support system for ecosystem management.

He has been actively serving as a Chair/Vice Chair, Secretary, and Founding President in many committees of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers since 2003. He also serves as an Associate Editor of the Transactions of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers; Applied Engineering in Agriculture since 2008. He was a recipient of 2012 Agricultural Research Award, 2011 Seed for Success Award, 2011 University Faculty Scholar, 2010 and 2012 Outstanding Graduate Educator of Purdue University; 2007 New Holland Young Researcher Award of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineering; 2006 Outstanding Engineer Award of the Arkansas Section of the ASABE; 2005 Best Teacher Award, 2002 and 2003 Outstanding Researcher Award of University of Arkansas.
